Next weekend I’ll be in Dayton, Ohio, for a production of my new play The Humanist at the Dayton Playhouse Future Fest. The Humanist tells the story of Ted Freedman, a classics professor at a public university who must fight to keep his job in the face of state budget cuts and an increasingly profit-driven educational system – all while dealing with the re-emergence of the love of his life, who not only left him for his best friend but is now president of his university. The play is a comedic take on a topic near and dear to my heart: the corporatization of higher education and the decline of the humanities.
The show is on Saturday, July 26th, at 8:00pm. Tickets are available from the Dayton Playhouse Box Office.
